Oregon Secretary of State Business Entity Search

In the state of Oregon, the Oregon Secretary of State Corporation Division Business Name Search allows individuals to search for entities using a wide range of search methods and options. Users simply enter the Business Name or Registry Number and select the Search for Business Name button to begin the process. The search tool can also be used as a Name Availability Search. This is done by having the user enter the name he or she was planning on naming their entity. If the name is not in the database, the user can apply for an LLC using that name.

How to Search

Step 1 – Head to the following web page to begin: http://egov.sos.state.or.us/br/pkg_web_name_srch_inq.login.

At the site, enter the Business Name or the Registry Number of the entity you would like to search, select the search method from the list (in ‘More restrictive to Less restrictive’ order), and click the Search for Business Name button.

Step 2 – The next page will display any matching entities. The user will be able to view various points of information such as Record No, Entity Type, Entity Status, Registry Number, Name Status, Name, and Assoc Search. To view detailed information regarding an entity from the list, select the company’s Registry Number or Name.

Step 3 – Information regarding the selected company will be broken up into several categories, these categories consist of the following:

  • Business Entity Data
  • Associated Names
  • Name History
  • Summary History
  • Counties
