How to Form

In order to form an LLC in the State of Connecticut the applicant will be required to file the Articles of Organization (Form LC-1-1.0) or the Application of Registration (Form LCF-1-1.0) along with the filing fee of $120. This may be processed by using the physical forms or applying online by using the instructions below.

Step 1 – In order to begin the setup process we first need to make sure that the name you have in mind is available at the Secretary of State’s office. To do this you can conduct a search of the Secretary of State’s database by using This Search Tool. Upon discovering that the desired entity name is available, proceed to Step 2.

Step 2 – If filing as a Domestic entity, the user has the option to either File Online or file using the Articles of Organization. For Foreign applications, users are required to complete the Application for Registration.

Step 3 – The cost for filing either a domestic or foreign application is $120. If utilizing a paper application, send the payment to the following address: COMMERCIAL RECORDING DIVISION, CONNECTICUT SECRETARY OF THE STATE, P.O. BOX 150470, HARTFORD, CT 06115-0470. Make checks payable to the ‘Secretary of State’.
